Message From Vice-Chancellor
I greet all of you with deep delight and great excitement. I welcome you to the Sreenarayanaguru Open University.
Needless to say, mankind across the globe is in predicament caused by an unusual fear and despair of Covid19. The pandemic protocol has impacted much on our outlook and way of life. Restrictions are visible everywhere. Mobility is put on hold and there is a feeling of uncertainty and anxiety in all walks of life. Significantly the impact has been more on education. Classroom experiences have undergone a drastic metamorphosis. Form and content of pedagogy were restated online platforms. Virtual and simulated workstations became the new territorial space for teaching and learning strategies.
Sreenarayanguru Open University, the state university for education and training in blended format, was established by the Govt. of Kerala in September 2020 vide the government ordinance No. 45 of 2020. Having been established as the 15th University in the State of Kerala the Sreenarayanaguru Open University aims at strengthening the structural dynamics of academic cooperation for ensuring quality inclusive education for all regardless of age, creed, gender and religion.
To increase access of potential learners of all categories to scientific and value-based quality higher education, research and training to ensure equity in its process and outcome fostering educational empowerment for social advancement.
Sreenarayanaguru Open University is housed in a private rented building situated beside the Ashtamudi backwaters near the bypass toll plaza Kureepuzha, Kollam. The Headquarters has dedicated offices for the governance, academic and administrative units. Recently the Government of Kerala has handed over a cluster of buildings in the Government HSS campus, Mulamkadakom, Kollam. This campus, known as Annex campus, houses the IT Center, Library, classrooms and faculty offices.
